How did the Journey
Begin?
Team Aafia was founded on June 4, 2019, under the leadership of Ibrahim Qaid. It began as a small group of conscientious young individuals who sought justice for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and other oppressed ones of the world. Initially, their efforts were focused on Twitter (now X), where they launched campaigns regarding the various international issues including the victims of oppression.
As time passed, the movement gained momentum, got widespread support, and shifted significantly towards Dr. Aafia Siddiqui’s case. The team expanded beyond social media, engaging in on-ground activism, organizing conferences, protests, and awareness campaigns. Their persistent efforts forced government officials and media to take notice of Aafia’s case.
One of their earliest major breakthroughs was after an attack on Dr. Aafia in prison by a fellow inmate. Team Aafia launched the #AafiasLifeInDanger campaign, which gained significant media attention. In 2023, when Dr. Fowzia Siddiqui met Aafia after 20 years, Team Aafia ran the hashtags, which significantly amplified the cause.
Over time, Team Aafia expanded its reach across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Bluesky. The team also initiated offline activities, such as holding conferences, protests, and signature campaigns in major cities like Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, and Gujranwala.
Despite facing challenges, Team Aafia remains an independent and non-political movement, dedicated to raising awareness, fighting for justice, and striving for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.
Our Mission
Team Aafia is committed to advocating for justice while upholding national and international laws. The core mission of the organization is to secure the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui and expose all false propaganda against her. The team also stands for the rights of all oppressed individuals worldwide, ensuring that every human being, regardless of religion, race, nationality, or background, is treated with justice and dignity. With a strong emphasis on lawful activism, Team Aafia believes in raising awareness through social media campaigns, public protests, and on-ground mobilization. The team operates independently, with no political or religious affiliations, and works within the legal framework of Pakistan and international human rights laws. Team Aafia’s ultimate goal is to bring Dr. Aafia Siddiqui back home while continuing its broader fight against oppression and injustice.

As the president of this organization, I am proud to stand at the forefront of a movement dedicated to the pursuit of justice, human dignity, and the protection of human rights. Our mission is to relentlessly advocate for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, a victim of injustice and inhuman treatment, and to bring global attention to the violations she has endured.
We aim to raise awareness, mobilize public support, and create an unwavering platform for those whose voices are silenced by oppression. Our work is rooted in the belief that every individual, regardless of their identity or background, deserves the basic human rights to freedom, safety, and dignity.
Through a combination of strategic social media campaigns, public awareness initiatives, and grassroots activism, we strive to create a world where justice is not a privilege, but a universal right for all. We honor the courage of those who continue the fight for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, and we pledge to never stop advocating for her release until justice is served. Together, we are a voice for the voiceless, and a beacon of hope for the oppressed.

Team Aafia operates as a structured yet independent organization, with a hierarchical system ensuring effective coordination:
Leadership: The team is led by a President, with support from the Advisory Board and National Core Committee.
Social Media Team: Focuses on digital advocacy, managing official accounts across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, WhatsApp, and Bluesky to spread awareness.
